You need the support of a business community if you’re going to be in it for the long term.
Running a home business alone can be lonely. Especially an online business.
Still to this day, most people will have no clue when you say “I have an online business” or ‘I sell online” or “I have a blog”. They’ll nod politely while their eyes glaze over…
That said, it’s key to have a network of like-minded people you can confer and commiserate with so that you feel less alone and still part of a business community. It will also boost your productivity and creativity to actually have conversations with others, not just your cat!
Yaro Starak is a succesful online entrepreneur, here’s his take on it.
Who Do You Lean On When Nothing Is Working?
I’m at a party. The pretext is simple, people drinking and chatting, attempting to form meaningful connections, to bond over shared interests. As expected, everyone asks what I do. When I answer that I “work online” the response is an expression like I just said something in another language.
I attempt to explain how I spend my time turning a computer with an internet connection into an income stream. I can tell the distance between their comprehension and the reality of what I do is too big a chasm to jump.
