Consistency is a key tool for you to overcome procrastination, as long as you're being consistent with the right actions.
It’s about committing to move forward and act no matter what obstacles are in your way.
In other words, consistency is regular repetition of things that get you closer to your goals. With consistency you become more optimistic about your future, empower yourself to accomplish more and increase your productivity.
To fully harness this power you need to be more accountable, focused, and mindful of your actions. If you don’t, your business will suffer in many different ways.
Here are a few ways your lack of consistency is affecting your business and how to improve it:
Delays Action and Wastes Valuable Time
We only have so much time on this earth. That said, inconsistent action wastes your time and other valuable resources.
Your performance suffers, and so does your work.
Stalls Momentum
Routines build up the momentum you need to keep the flywheel in motion automatically.
That's to say that when you don’t stay consistent, it’s much harder to get the day going, since every day is like starting over without automatic processes in place.
Consistency gives you a clearer understanding of what you want and need to do to keep moving ahead.
Stalls Personal Growth and Improvement
Consistency allows you to practice, which in turn improves your skills and lessens the amount of time it takes to perform tasks and reach your target.
Long gaps between each instance of a task, say like creating a sales funnel, means that you'll spend more time re-learning how to do that task. Frequency and repetition increase performance and productivity.
Creates Unhealthy Expectations
No success happens overnight.
If you don’t think you need consistency to be successful, then you're likely on the wrong path.
It takes repeated action day-in and day-out to get there.
Break Down Your Resistance
If you want to harness the power of consistency, you need to figure out what's holding you back.
Lack of desire or clarity on what you want from your life will create resistance to action.
For many, it’s fear of failure, success or the unknown. Wanting instant gratification or having an “all-or-nothing mindset” are other possibilities as well.
Whatever it may be, you need to look deep within yourself and be honest to find the source, bring the cure and get back on track.
Shift Your Perspective and Attitude
Some days you won't feel the best, and other days it'll feel like the universe is out to get you.
However, it doesn't matter what life throws at you. What matters is how you react to those setbacks and how you handle them.
There's always a way to take a more positive and objective view to push forward and get what you want.
Start Small
Find one task or activity that you know you can do every day without a second thought. Keep doing it until becomes second nature - don't stop. Add more as you become more proficient. Test and repeat.
Before you know it, you'll have a complete and consistent workflow that performs well for your needs.
Remember, the more consistent you are the happier you and your customers will be.
Over time the work will become easier, saving you time and energy to create and innovate at a higher level in your business.
